Countdown begins to the World's 50 Best

It’s back! The World’s 50 Best Restaurants sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna returns on 19 June 2018 for another momentous edition.

The event this year will be taking place in Bilbao in Spain’s Basque Country, one of Europe’s finest gastronomical regions - you can live-stream the ceremony in its entirety on Fine Dining Lovers.

Last year saw New York's Eleven Madison Park claim the title, but can they repeat the feat this year, or will we see a brand new World's Best Restaurant?

Three awards have already been announced, ahead of the ceremony at Bilbao's Euskalduna Palace: British chef Clare Smyth is the recipient of the elite Vodka World's Best Female Chef Award, Peru's Gaston Acurio will receive the Diners Club® Lifetime Achievement Award,  while SingleThread, the farm restaurant in Northern California from husband and wife team Kyle and Katina Connaughton has been announced as the winner of the Miele One to Watch Award 2018.



Ahead of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 , the #50BestTalks was held on the 17 June at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastian. This time the theme focused on ‘Life Cycle,’ with seven of the world’s best chefs reflecting on the journey of their food from conception to consumption:  Joan Roca, Eneko Atxa, Gaggan Anand, Clare Smyth, Dan Barber, Paul Pairet and Christina Tosi.



Food meets Art presented by S.Pellegrino at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao on the 18th June, have featured both chefs and artists and the presentation of its new design project, The Journey of Water. Two of the best chefs in the world, Alain Passard and Massimo Bottura, both famous for their love of art, together with Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos and architect/designer Giulio Cappellini, had a fascinating discussion on the relationship betweent art and food, chaired by curator Marta Arzak.
