Silvana Coffee at the Mundaring Truffle Festival Launch

On Tuesday, June 14th the 2011 Mundaring Truffle Festival was launched with truffle delicacies created by WA's most inventive chefs, and with Silvana Finest Quality Arabica Coffee. Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister Dr Kim Hames officially launched the Festival to be held in Mundaring on the weekend of the 30-31 July. Dr Hames was proud to announce a large injection of government funding into the event, via Eventscorp, which will see this popular annual event attract even more worldwide attention from culinary artisans than it already does.

The Launch was elegant and energetic, including a truffled scrambled-egg cook-off between Dr Hames and festival committee member Verity James alongside watchful chefs. On a day of the coldest weather Perth has seen in months, Silvana Coffee was there to offer exquisite Silvana Exclusive espressos, amid high demand. As the coffee of choice for chefs and gourmands, Silvana was the perfect accompaniment.

Truffles are a delicacy that are intrinsically associated with the Manjimup region in Western Australia ... until now. Chef Alain Fabregues was delighted to reveal that he had found the first truffle on his property in Toodyay only recently. This exciting development shows that the Western Australian industry has more room for growth and expansion amid its growing national and international reputation. Fabregues, of renowned establishment The Loose Box was among a veritable throng of high-end chefs such as Frasers Group's Chris Taylor, The George's Telina Menzies, Choux Cafe's Emmanuel Mollois, Sophie Budd and more who took time off to help launch this important event in the culinary calendar.

Verity James energetically welcomed chefs, foodies, politicians and journalists to the Launch, where she acknowledged food critic Jane Cornes' excellent work on previous Truffle Festival programs. She also described how exciting this year's Festival will be, with internationally renowned chefs in attendance. European Foods Wholesalers will once again have a strong presence at this year's Mundaring Truffle Festival, which is set to be the biggest yet. Our fully imported, fresh European cheeses including truffled cheeses will be available on site for tasting. And this year, our flagship Silvana Cafe will launch, with Silvana mini espresso bars posted across the Festival grounds to ensure our coffee is available for everyone. This is Silvana's first Truffle Festival since earning the award of 2 stars for Remarkable Quality by the International Taste and Quality Institute in Belgium, Brussels in October 2010. And our dedicated brewing tent will also enable guests to view a range of alternate brewing techniques. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Mundaring Truffle Festival by sharing our expertise and passion for fine food and coffee.
